Symbols

The Symbol Library allows you create reusable content throughout your animations. This is great for content that gets repeated often, such as common mouth shapes for lip syncing.

To add a symbol to the scene, simply drag it from the Symbol Library onto the canvas. It will then appear as a Symbol Layer in the timeline, where you can add keyframes to adjust how it appears in the scene.

Symbols can also act as animations on their own, with their own set of layers and frames. You can also use the keyframe properties to change the way an animated symbol is played back in the timeline. The available options are:

  • Still (stationary, always displays the first frame of the symbol)

  • Loop (plays to the end of the symbol, then resets to beginning)

  • Ping-Pong (plays to end of the symbol, then plays in reverse)

Creating a Symbol

To create a new symbol, use the Create Empty Symbol button under the ellipsis icon in the Symbol Library.

By default, the symbol will have no layers, so you'll have to create one manually to begin. Then you can start adding frames as you would in the main timeline.
